And there are some very impressive newcomers, as well. Daisy Ridley is terrific as Rey, and not only did she played on a much larger stage but also provided young female fans a role model they’ve never had before.
There has been a rumor that Warner Bros and MGM are partnering on a new film version of the classic video game, and they’re searching for a young actress to take up the role of the grave-digging archaeologist. And guess what 'Daisy Ridley' might be the next Lara Croft.
John Boyega aka Finn in 'Star Wars: The force awakens' said that...
“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” he told THR. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be."
Angelina Jolie originally played the character in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and its 2003 sequel The Cradle Of Life, two films which weren’t particularly well received but nonetheless each became the highest-grossing video game adaptations in history.
Appetite for a reboot has been building steadily since the video game series was itself rebooted in 2013 with Tomb Raider, and in 2015 Rise of the Tomb Raider was released which transformed Lara Croft into something more realistic and believable.
Can't wait to see the trailer.
