It appears that everyone's favorite foul-mouthed antihero Deadpool has just completely shot down another red-suited contender.

Indeed, Fox's blockbuster has just overtaken Spider-Man 3 at box offices in the U.S., making it the 8th highest-grossing superhero movie in the history of cinema. And that's on top of the fact that Deadpool has just raked in an impressive $730 million at worldwide box offices. Not bad, right?

Yet, although Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 is reeling from defeat, his first Spider-Man movie is still standing — that's until Deadpool manages to pull in another $24 million (and a further $300 million if it wants to beat The Avengers.) Remind yourself of where the competition's really at with the epic trailer below:

Already over the weekend, Wade Wilson smashed Guardians of the Galaxy out of the running, making it the second-biggest opening installment of a solo superhero franchise.

Do you think 'Deadpool' can beat 'The Avengers'?
