I'm just a nerdy kid who learned to use the internet!

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt premiered last year (2015) to high praise and critical acclamation. Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, Tina Fey, and Jon Hamm all won Emmys for their performances. This show was a breakout hit if ever there was one. Netflix immediately got the production team started on another season, and we anxiously awaited its arrival for what seemed like an eternity. Now Kimmy's return is imminent. Season 2 hits Netflix on April 15th. Netflix has so generously given us this trailer for Season 2 and it's just barely enough to hold me over until the 15th:

Kimmy, Tituss, Jacqueline, and Lillian are back! I'm so excited! If you haven't seen Kimmy Season 1 then you might not understand my excitement, however, I've come up with the five best reasons I can possibly think of to persuade you to give Kimmy Schmidt a chance.

1. It's Positively Positive!

From Episode 1 on you will absolutely fall in love with Ellie Kemper's character, Kimmy. She was abducted as a teenager and lived in an underground doomsday cult bunker for years. Despite her misfortune, she's constantly positive and happy. She's a ray of sunshine in cloudy New York. Every time I watch this show, her character makes me happy. Her attitude is infectious and she'll no doubt have a similar affect on you! Kimmy Schmidt is the first character I've seen who's entirely optimistic and hilarious at the same time. Props and thanks to showrunner Tina Fey, the writers, and Ellie Kemper for making this wonderful gift of a character for all of our benefit.

2. It Comes From The Crazy Amazing Mind Of Tina Fey!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE Tina Fey. She's creative, funny, and everything she touches turns to comedy gold! Take her performances in Mean Girls, 30 Rock, and any appearance by Sarah Palin on SNL as evidence. Not only does she guest star in the last two episodes of Kimmy Season 1 as prosecutor Marcia Clark (yes, the O.J. Simpson trial prosecutor), but her comedy stamp is on every episode. Tina puts her heart and soul into her work and it shines through! You've got to love someone like that!

3. It's '30 Rock' Adjacent

Must I say more? 30 Rock was and is a classic. Alec Baldwin was revealed to be an absolute comedy genius on that show. The guest stars were huge and the show pulled no punches when it came to pop culture. Kimmy Schmidt is another page from the same book. The shows share characters and actors. Most of all, the two shows share tone. These shows feel so similar in that they both revolve around the same premise: women trying to overcome the expectations of others and be who they want to be. These two masterpieces are permanent fixtures of our culture, as they should be.

4. New York Is A Main Character!

Kimmy Schmidt takes place primarily in NYC, which adds a whole new level to the show. Every character is a caricature of New York residents. Kimmy addresses everyone, from the millionaire housewives, to the wanna-be Broadway stars. Kimmy finds a way to parody the city in a way that makes it even more inviting. It shows that NYC is a place for any person from all walks of life.

5. This Is A Show About Hope

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is absolutely unique in its simple and perfectly attained goal: to inspire hope. The characters on this show have gone through divorces, financial problems, discrimination, and kidnappings. That should be sad. However, Kimmy Schmidt's attitude of promoting hope against all odds inspires and lifts up her friends. More than that, Kimmy's "unbreakable" hope inspires the audience as well. I watch this show and feel like my problems are so much smaller. The hope Kimmy instills is a rare inspiration, and I firmly believe that everyone else on planet Earth deserves to feel that inspiration too!

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is one of, if not the best comedy creation in years. Kimmy and her friends are endearing and inspiring. This show will counteract even the rainiest days. Ellie Kemper is a ray of light that will brighten even the darkest skies. I LOVE Kimmy Schmidt and I sincerely hope you give it a try and that it affects you in the same way! Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hits Netfilx on April 15th and I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN EVEN WAIT THAT LONG!!!!
