Disclaimer: I've become acquainted with several core members of the Wadjet Eye Games team over the years. There's also a child-like drawing of mine featured in one of their games as part of a puzzle. That said, all opinions are my own.
Wadjet Eye Games has been creating and publishing games since 2006, and they've only grown and improved with each new game! From The Shivah, the Blackwell series, and most recently, Shardlight, they've brought both adventure game veterans and newcomers to the table to enjoy all of their wonderful stories!
Check out Shardlight below, Wadjet Eye Games' most recent adventure!
Although adventure games never truly died, Wadjet Eye Games most certainly helped rejuvenate the point-and-click sub-genre that thrived so much in the '90s. And now, Wadjet Eye Games' co-founder, Dave Gilbert, has announced a new title coming to us in 2017, entitled Unavowed.
Unavowed's Story So Far...
For six months, you were possessed by a demon. For six months, you unwillingly tore a trail of bloodshed through New York City. Now, finally, you are rescued by the Unavowed - an ancient society dedicated to stopping evil.
You are free, but your world is in tatters. You have no home, no friends, and you are wanted by the police. You can not return to your old life, but perhaps you can start a new one. Join the Unavowed, and learn to fight against the oncoming darkness.

Unavowed May Not Be Our Average Point-And-Click!
In addition to the usual features in Wadjet Eye Games' titles (voice acting, director commentary, original score, et cetera), there were a few new, welcomed additions! One of them being that Unavowed will feature double the resolution of a typical Wadjet Eye Game!
Another thing which particularly piqued my interest was the ability to choose a male or female protagonist. It isn't unusual to switch between different characters (both male and female) in point-and-click adventures, but being able to choose our protagonist's gender from the beginning is a very welcomed addition!
Some other exciting new features include:
- Choose one of three playable origin stories
- A total of five companion characters to choose from. Each with their own talents and abilities.
These three features make me wonder if we'll have a little extra replayability thrown into the mix! When a Facebook user asked if this would be a point-and-click or an RPG, Wadjet Eye Games responded, "Best described as an adventure game with a Bioware style RPG story structure."
This is definitely an interesting turn for Wadjet Eye Games! Knowing how much the different team members love adventure games and RPGs, there's no doubt in my mind that they'll be able to pull this off successfully!
Gilbert is trying something new with Unavowed, and will be trickling out information as development progresses. The release date will be sometime in 2017 for PC.
