It's been more than two years since Frozen created a full-blown cultural phenomenon, and we're still trying to get those songs out of our heads. Now, as fans anxiously await the sequel, Kristen Bell is here to tell us it is on its way.
In an interview with Collider, the voice of Anna herself admitted that the script is written (with a little work still to be done) and the cast is just a few short weeks away from recording:
"Not yet. We’re just about to. They’ve just written it and they’re still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month."
This is huge news, especially since Frozen 2 will surely take a long time to animate after all the voices are recorded.
Bell went on to elaborate about how commitment to a great film was always a top priority, hence why the sequel's script took a little while to reach the perfect jumping-off point:
"The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn’t just put something out to put it out. That’s why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one. Generally when you have a first successful movie you want to make a second one. It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it."
No word on when Frozen 2 will make its way to theaters, but the Frozen Broadway musical will premiere some time in 2018.
