There's a mutant breed of movies that fuses two concepts together to create a two-headed monster: such as Sharknado, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies or Mansquito.
If you liked those names, the forthcoming outrageous Killer Klowns from Outer Space re-do should sell you on the '80s original title alone. Not only will there be Killer Klowns with a killer kapital 'K,' but they're not from this planet!
On top of that (yes there's more) the producers of the science fiction horror comedy are outdoing themselves by promising a "requel." Breathe. Director of the 1988 original Stephen Chiodo said to Movie Crypt recently:
Right now, we are currently pursuing a long arch series for cable. We wondered, should we do a sequel to the first one or do we do a remake? We came up with a ‘requel’ – it’s a sequel and a remake.
No I don't wholly understand either. The important thing is there's more new killer stuff. It will be a perverted version of the already overblown original.
The old plot starring Grant Cramer and Suzanne Snyder, saw an alien race who look like clowns, armed with yapping balloon dogs and popcorn-loaded shotguns, invading California. Chiodo, who made the previous movie with his two brothers, continued:
It’s a trilogy in four parts, and it really follows the continuing adventures of new people who are experiencing this phenomenon of a Klown invasion, and once in a while you see some of the old guys pop up and hear their stories – find out what happened over the last 25 years. It’s fucking great.
You heard the man — the four-part trilogy is going to be as amazing as it is nonsensical. This is not the first we've heard of a sequel. In 2012 Joblo reported original star Grant Cramer (now 54 years old) would reprise his role as the town drunk.
As well as saying there would be multiple sequels back then, Cramer said:
There’ll be one character [from the first movie] who carries over. So we’ll pick up where each of them has ended up in some new small town, and happen to be there when the Klown stuff happens again. [My character will be] somewhere between the energy of Kris Kristofferson’s character in 'Blade' and Christopher Lloyd’s character in 'Back to the Future'.
A year later, the title was set to be Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 3D. However, I think we can safely assume the Chiodo clowns have moved on to fresh big tops.

No release date is yet in sight. If you can't wait why not check into the Clown Motel?
What's the best part of the original?
