Warning: Spoilers ahead containing pretty vital information toward the plot of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Read on knowing that you have been warned.
The recently released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a pretty big movie. So it's a pretty big deal, in case you've been living under a rock for the last 3 or so years. This article will cover the best bits (My personal favourites) and other things I've noticed. Oh, and don't be expecting any comic book referenced Easter eggs in this review, there might be some that I notice though. I'll be sure to add them in if I do.
Okay, so just, wow. Just wow. At first, I was sceptical about this movie. I had no idea how this would go down. Before learning more about what happens in the movie, for example Batman's suit, I thought Superman could squish him like a mossy on a hot summers day, but that wasn't the case at all. Batman fought back quite well, which I'll explain in more detail.
Ben Afflecks' Batman was, in my opinion, better than Christian Bales' Batman. He was darker, more brutal and more bat-like. In the scene were 2 GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) officers were investigating a house of a criminal, and they run into, you guessed it, Batman. The officers searched the house and found prisoners in a basement. One of the officers went to investigate a noise upstairs while the other stayed down in the basement with the prisoners. The officer who was investigating the noise, armed with a shotgun, found the criminal beat up and chained to the wall. In the corner of the room was Batman. It looked as if he was waiting for the police officer to notice him before he decided to do anything. The officer turned his head to see Batman and then he turned his gun and fired, missing. Batman scrambled across the room, on the ceiling. He could just be seen through the rubble and dust from the gun shots, crawling fast across the ceiling into a hole in the roof. This is just one of the many interesting scenes we see the new Batman in, showing off his Bat-skills.
As this is a Man of Steel sequel, Henry Cavill is still Superman. I personally didn't like Man of Steel, or Superman for that matter, but now I do. Now I like him just as much as anyone else. In a montage type of part in the movie, Superman is facing judgement of pretty much everyone, and he feels it. So he decides to do something about it. To gain the respect of the people again. First he sees on the news that a girl is stuck in a house fire. When he saves the girl everyone in the crowd extends their arms in the direction of Superman while the building is being destroyed in the background. He then goes and saves a couple of astronauts in a failed rocket launch, which gives him the respect he wanted.
Wonder Woman. Wonder woman sorta just freshened up the whole movie. We saw her in the trailer, but we didn't see her lasso of truth in the trailer (they've gotta leave something for the movie!), which she used to tie up Doomsday in the final sequence. We did see it on her belt in the trailer though, we just didn't see it in action. It's kind of a shame that we didn't see it more, like in an interrogation scene or something. We saw her leap across the battlefield, smash her indestructible bracelets together, slice off one of Doomsdays' hands with her sword and protect herself with her shield. I'd say we've got quite a lot to look forward to when her solo movie comes out if Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, says they weren't using all of her abilities in BvS.
Now this movie was pretty decent with the cameos. There was an Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg cameo. Which I thought was pretty well thought out. When Bruce Wayne was at Lex Luthors charity event, he decided to steal some data concerning the Kryptonite he was planning to steal to use against Superman. When he does he uploads the data to the Bat Caves computer. He finds what he was looking for, but he sees a file that says: "Meta-Humans". So he then can't help but stick his nose into it. He finds all the files containing information about Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. Bruce only clicks on the Wonder Woman one, and then finds out the true identity of the mysterious woman at the charity event. Later on in the movie, Wonder Woman goes onto her computer and sees she has a message from Bruce Wayne. It has an image of her back in WW1 with her team and a link to the data Bruce stole from Lex. When we saw her cursor move over to The Flashes file, thats when I started to get really excited.
As I was saying above Diana (Wonder Woman) was checking a message she got from Bruce. It contained all the Meta Human files containing all the Justice league members. The first one Diana clicked was The Flashes. A video opened and there was security camera footage from inside a shop. Barry Allen ( I presume that it is Barry Allen, all these Flashes are so confusing! Please correct me if I am wrong.) is at the back of the shop getting milk out of a fridge while the shop was getting robbed. He got his milk and only then noticed that the robber had the cashier at gun point. He then zoomed across a did what looked like a shoulder barge and then zoomed back to his basket that he placed on the floor next to the milk.
Now this one I thought was quite interesting. There was another video that popped up when Diana clicked on Aquamans' file. It was of what seemed to be 3 or 2 underwater drones that were heading towards a large ship wreck with what seems to be a rather large hole in the side. One of the drones was close to the hole in the ship wreck and one was watching afar. The two kept on swapping between camera views as well. The one closest went almost close enough to the hole that it could enter until it saw two blue dots appear from the pitch black darkness of the ship. The blue eyes started to move and moved right into the light to reveal the face of Aquaman. At first he wasn't quite sure about the drone but with trident in hand decided to destroy it. He stabbed it and then the camera switched to the one watching from a distance and sees Aquaman zoom out of the hole, creating a shock wave taking out both of the cameras.
This file video I found rather strange. Now I don't know very much about Cyborg or how he became a cyborg or anything so yeah. There was a scientist talking about sciency stuff that I didn't understand, but he was doing it in a video log, and it seemed as it went on he was getting more frustrated with each try, as it kept on transitioning and him getting angrier every time. Until he finally did what he was trying to accomplish. He successfully made some sort of floating, morphing cube. In the background was what looked like some kind of human, or what's left of him anyway. There was only a torso, a head and some wires on the wall. The cube sort of started to react with the human remains. Adding bionic legs and arms to the body, which was now screaming in, what seemed, agony. The scientist panicked, rushed toward the camera and shut it off.
And that, my friends, was some of my favourite bits from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in what seems now like a little bit to much detail. But hey, what's done is done. Hope you enjoyed this article as much as I enjoyed the movie. Give a big thumbs up for me please, and comment your favourite bits in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
