Apologies for not making a post for last week's episode. To sum it up in a quick way we loved it and towards the bottom we will lay out some of the Easter Eggs we talked about since they weren't addressed in this episode. Check out last week's video and this week's below.
Check out our podcast here if you want to hear us talk about it:
Bobbi and Hunter follow Malick to a decommissioned facility in Siberia, where Russian delegate Anton Petrov wishes to build the sanctuary, against the wishes of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Olshenko. They are nearly caught by Malick's men, but are able to disable them and regroup with the team. While Coulson,Jemma and Fitz operate from the Quinjet, Bobbi, Hunter, May, Mack and Daisy move in on Malick. They discover that Malick plans to take out the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Olshenko because he doesn't agree with bringing in Inhumans and create the Sanctuary. He tasks the General Androvich, the first Inhuman of political power and the power to manifest a darkforce being, to kill him. The team moves in, with Hunter getting Prime Minister Dmitry to safety, while Daisy, Bobbi and Mack fight the dark matter being. It proves to be too much for them knocking out Daisy. Mack tells Bobbi that their only shot is to kill the General Androvich. She kills him, but it puts her and Hunter in a tough spot with the US and Russian governments. They are both questioned, but neither cracks under the pressure. Coulson and President Ellis arrive to try and save them from being executed. Coulson is able to get into the interrogation room and shuts off the cameras for a limited time. He tells them that they have a plan to get them out of there. They tell Coulson that they have decided to cut ties so that S.H.I.E.L.D can continue. Coulson tells the rest of the team about Hunter and Bobbi's decision so they head back to base. Now that they can no longer be involved with S.H.I.E.L.D or any government agency, Bobbi and Hunter think of what to do next while having drinks at the bar. They receive shots and look around to see their friends giving them a "spy's goodbye". They all raise their glasses and tearfully look at each other in silence. Malick is shown at a shooting range with his daughter Stephanie who is excited to meet Hive.
The first Inhuman with political power is a scary thing, but that was nothing compared to what he was actually able to do. Check out these notable scenes.
General Androvich- An Inhuman with the abilitiy to summon a sentient Darkforce being. What makes this power so terrifying is the fact that it can act on it's own and essentially can not be beaten. Give Doctor Strange a run at this thing and he would have put it down in a second.
Prime Minister Dmitry- Honestly this guy was a tool bag. S.H.E.I.L.D kept him alive, yet he goes and puts Bobbi and Hunter's heads on the chopping block. You would think that after Hunter saved his ass from getting killed by an invulnerable Darkforce being, he would have been a little more grateful.
Stephanie Malick: Malick's daughter who we see very briefly at the end. We don't know too much about her other than the fact that she is a dead shot and really wants to meet Hive.
Team S.H.I.E.L.D.- Main mission this week: Take down Gideon Malick. With Bobbi and Hunter already there keeping eyes on Malick, they had to wait for the rest of the team to get there. Everything seemed to go according to plan, up until they realized that Malick was staging a coup in taking out the Prime Minister of Russia. The team was able to save the day, but they paid the price. No more Bobbi and Hunter. Nobody died and we were still reduced to tears after they gave them a silent goodbye. It won't be the same without them there. The team gathered around at the bar for one last drink. What probably hurt the most was seeing Mack pause there looking at his friends one last time. When Mack cries, we cry.
Bobbi and Hunter- Looks like these two have just finished their last mission as Agends of S.H.I.E.L.D. After realizing that the only way to keep S.H.I.E.L.D going was to be disavowed, they made the sacrifice. Throughout the episode it hinted at the fact that someone was not going to make it out, with Hunter telling Bobbi that he wanted to take a break from it all. Then they had their touching moment in the interrogation cell before Coulson came to get them out. While it is sad to see them go we know that this episode kind of served as a backdoor pilot for them as they are going to have their own show.
May and Hunter- May hasn't gotten over what Hunter did at the start of the season, but they finally made amends in this episode. He apologized to her for what he did to Andrew and assured her that all he wanted was to protect his friends. Just when they are back to being okay with one another, Hunter has to leave.
Coulson, Fitz and Jemma- They ran the show up in the Quinjet and quickly analyzed the powers of the Inhuman General. It's been a bit since Fitz and Jemma went out and joined the team on a mission so it was nice seeing them back in the action. Without them, the team wouldn't have known what hit them.
Daisy, Bobbi and Mack- Their mission was to get to the Prime Minister and make sure nothing happened to him. The scene where they are trying to hack into the security system and Daisy had no idea how to use the ancient tech they had was pretty funny. Then they had to face off against the Dark Matter being and they all were almost killed had it not been for Bobbi taking out the General.
Coulson, Ellis and Prime Minister- Coulson and Ellis put on their best poker faces to make sure that Bobbi and Hunter wouldn't be put in front of a firing squad. We love how Coulson was able to just go in there and casually call the Prime Minister out for being a dick.
Coulson, Bobbi and Hunter- He offered them a way out, knowing that it would risk exposing S.H.E.I.L.D. You could just see that sadness in his eyes when they told him that they would be getting out of the game. He even thanked them in code before letting them go.
Malick and Stephanie- Malick has offspring. Should her dad bite the dust at the end of the season, she will surely take over the family business. She seems to be dangerous and it will be interesting to see what part she plays in all of this.
Malick and Petrov- Their plan for Sanctuary was foiled again by the team and Petrov will never live to see it come to life if it ever does. That's what happens when you do business with the head of Hydra. You end up dead.
Marvel's Most Wanted- One door closes and another one opens. This was their backdoor pilot of sorts. It won't be long until we see Bobbi and Hunter back in the action, but this time on the run for their lives, but with some help with the mysterious Dominic Fortune.
Darkforce- It is a powerful, extra-dimensional energy that can be manipulated in slightly different ways by a handful of beings that are attuned to it. It is the main focus in the second season of Agent Carter in the for of Zero Matter. In this show it was used by General Androvich to manifest a sentient being. Darkforce will also have a big part to play in Doctor Strange.
Mozart and Harry Potter- Amadeus Ravenclaw Hunter. Best fake name ever. MozartxHarryPotter. Amadeus is also the name of Helen Cho's son in the comics who is also a genius.
(From last week) Eden Fesi/Manifold- In last week's episode Bobbi found records on an Inhuman the Australian scar face lady was keeping. In the comics, Fesi is an Aboriginal Australian mutant with the ability to bend time and space, connecting one piece to another and allowing him to teleport. Hopefully we get to see him in the coming episodes.
What's To Come/Theories:
Next week has the team pitted against a hacker group known as the "Watchdogs". Daisy seems to have a couple of screws loose and decides to go at them with force which seems a little out of character for her. Maybe it has something to do with Bobbi and Hunter leaving or something else entirely, but we cant wait to see Daisy cut loose and wreck shop. After the ass whooping they got this week they're going to want to blow off some steam and some wannabe hacker group seems like the perfect target. Moving forward with Hive story, we hope that we will see something exciting come out of that since the last we saw of him, he had restore Grant's body. He also has his own little Inhuman army forming, so Daisy better get to work on putting together her Secret Warriors.
The episode was an interesting one and the Inhuman they faced have us scared that the team may not be able to handle whatever it is Hive and Hydra is planning. We have to say that the highlight was the ending. The send of for Bobbi and Hunter was emotional and actually had us crying watching it. As the music got louder and the team raised their glasses for the final toast, we couldn't help but hurt a little inside. It was beautiful. We rate this episode 10 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D out of 10 based on that ending scene alone. What did you think about the episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
