After decades without a new film appearance by Han Solo, Harrison Ford gave old and new fans alike reason to celebrate (and eventually cry) with Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

The lovably gruff actor has been making a few rounds on the talk show circuit to discuss everything, from Han's fate to the future of the Indiana Jones franchise, but nothing was as interesting as his take on Disney's upcoming prequel. It will follow the early days of Han Solo, and supposedly more than 2,500 actors tried out for the role of the stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder.

Now, in his signature acerbic fashion, Ford has offered his thoughts on this recast.

Harrison Ford Dropped By Ellen In A Surprise Appearance

In the segment, Ford admits he was flattered to find out that so many actors were vying for the role that he made famous, but he did have some curt words of wisdom for them:

"Don't do it."

Knowing Ford's trademark dry wit, I'm sure he was just being playful. On the other hand, this guy has never really cared what people think, and that's exactly why we love him.

The untitled Han Solo prequel will hit theaters in 2018, but hopefully we'll discover who will be filling Ford's boots long before then.
