Batman is hands down one of the greatest fictional creations of all time, let alone the best superhero. Bruce Wayne's alter ego has been on an ass-kicking vigilante mission since 1939, and shows no signs of slowing down.

The Dark Knight has gone through a number of transitions, from early comic book days, to the comedic Adam West TV show, all the way to the Nolan trilogy. And, now, Affleck takes the mantle.

To celebrate the Caped Crusader's changing looks, let's take a look back at some of his most significant Batsuits:

1. First Appearance (1939) - Detective Comic #27

2. Batman Serial (1943) - Starring Lewis Wilson As Batman

3. Batman Vol. 1 No. 72 "Jungle Batman” (1952)

4. Detective Comics Vol. 1 #241 "Rainbow Batman” (1957)

5. Silver Age Batman (1960s)

6. Adam West’s Batman (1966)

7. 'Batman' (1989) - Michael Keaton

8. 'Batman Returns' (1992) - Michael Keaton

9. 'Batman Forever' (1995) - Val Kilmer

10. 'Batman and Robin' (1997) - George Clooney

11. 'The Dark Knight' (2008) - Christian Bale

12. 'Batman v Superman' (2016) - Ben Affleck
