Daredevil season 2 has hit Netflix and given fans the latest installment to the Netflix deal with Marvel. The question now is, what could we see in Jessica Jones season 2? Well here are five likely things we could see in the second series.

A New Superheroine

Hellcat and Rachael Taylor

In season one we witnessed Rachael Taylor portray Patricia "Trish" Walker, Jessica's best friend and adoptive sister. During season one Trish was on a mission to become stronger, however she had more downs than ups in getting to that goal. By the end of the series she choked down some of the stimulant pills being taken by the character Will Simpson, portrayed by Wil Traval. This gave her the 'oomph' she needed to finally hold her own in a fight, well until the side-effects caused her to collapse. In the comics Trish is the superheroine Hellcat, so it is highly likely Hellcat will make her debut in season two. She is also likely to "suit-up" as Hellcat to firstly protect her celebrity identity in the show, but also to reference how she wanted Jessica to have a superhero outfit in season one. Originally the character of Trish was intended to be Carol Danvers as Ms Marvel instead, but this was changed after Marvel made plans for Carol to star in the 2019 Captain Marvel film. So having Trish become Hellcat would also make perfect sense as the show was intended to feature a second superheroine.

With a New Heroine, come a New Villain

Nuke and Wil Traval

Wil Traval as Will Simpson is at the top for "most likely to be the bad guy" list. The character himself is based off of the character Frank Simpson who is also known as Nuke in the comics. The character is essentially Captain America, if he had made different choices in life. Created to be an ultimate soldier by "Project: Homegrown" for Weapon Plus, he was part of a black-ops team in Vietnam. Apart from being the result of an experiment and both serving for their country, the pair could not be more different. Nuke will go for the kill without hesitation and will go to extremes that Captain America would back away from. We saw the character of Will clearly become mentally unhinged during the first season, so his arrival as Nuke in the second series is likely. The question is if Will will portray the iconic American flag tattoo on his face when he finally becomes Nuke?

How did Jessica get her powers?

In the final episode of the first season, Trish reveals to Jessica that she has discovered a clue to how Jessica got her powers. This was never taken any further in the first season and was a clear question throughout the first season. We know a company paid for her medical bills after the car accident that killed her parents and brother, and that is was after the accident she discovered her abilities. It is most likely going to be the same group that funds the military research program that Will rejoined in the first season. The bigger question is did they know Jessica gained powers from their experiments and if so, why did they allow her to walk free from the hospital? It is possible this research facility will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's answer to Weapon X, as the Weapon X brand is under the Fox deal with Marvel. If that is the case we could see all sorts come from the organisation and it may even transition into other series and movies connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will there be a surprise for Jessica and Luke?

There is a bun in the oven!

Jessica and Luke have a long history in Marvel comics. They are even one of the few couples to endure a long-term relationship without to many problems along the way. This is mainly due to their daughter Danielle Cage. With the arrival of their daughter Jessica effectively retires from superheroisms so that their daughter will never have to face the risk of loosing both her parents. So with how often we witnessed Jessica and Luke "getting it on" in season one, could the pair be in for the surprise news in season two?

Will she Master "Controlled Falling"?

Jessica Jones clearly shows the ability to propel herself through the air, as seen when she arrived on Trish's balcony and her fight with Luke Cage. She does state that she calls it "controlled falling" as she isn't very good with this ability of hers and that she does sometimes hurt herself when landing. This could though be more mentally induced by Jessica, limiting her ability. In the comics Jessica Jones can fly with ease, but in season one of Jessica Jones the character was clearly running from her powers due to Killgrave controlling her prior to the show. With her resolution at the end of season one concerning her past with Killgrave, she is now free to embrace all of her abilities. This could see her increase in strength, as if she was stopping herself from flying due to self-doubt in herself, it is likely all her abilities were hindered. During her fight with Luke Cage you can clearly see her faltering in the battle due to her worries and fears. So if this theory turns out to be correct, we could see a much more powerful Jessica Jones in season two.
