KATHRYN MORRIS

Every time JK Rowling trends on Twitter, I get a little excited and my heart skips a beat. Is it another book? More Potter secrets? I'm crazy about any JK news, and her latest tweet has made me love her even more.

JK Rowling is one of my favourite authors, and as a wannabe writer myself, I find her deeply inspiring. Just when you think she couldn't get any better, the Harry Potter author has shared her rejection letters on Twitter for her novel The Cuckoo's Calling, pitched to publishers under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. She has shared the letters "for inspiration" - how nice is that?

I had no idea The Cuckoo's Calling had been rejected! For those of you who haven't read the Cormoran Strike novels - you must!

As a writer, I'm deeply moved when authors are honest about their experiences in trying to get their stories heard. We all know how hard it is to get your foot in the door, so hearing how JK Rowling went from being rejected several times to a multimillionaire is incredibly inspiring, and tells budding authors not to give up. Being rejected doesn't mean you're a bad writer. Getting published is incredibly tough, as JK Rowling has proved, because let's face it - who the hell would reject JK freakin' Rowling?!
