Season 2 of Netflix's hit Marvel series Daredevil has been met with universal critical acclaim. Many cite Karen's growth as a character, Matt becoming more and more torn, and the introduction to The Hand as being main highlights. The biggest bright spot of all for most however, has to be Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher. He brought a never-before-seen (on-screen) human element to the character, and similarly to what he did with the character of Shane in The Walking Dead, he was a bit crazy!
It seems like with deranged characters, such as The Joker and The Punisher, it is almost necessary to remain at least a bit in character all throughout filming. While on the Jimmy Kimmel show, Jon Bernthal dove into his preparation for the character and revealed that he has to basically live the life of Frank Castle off screen! Check it out:
Jon Bernthal BECAME Frank Castle!
While Jon Bernthal didn't go on a mass organized crime killing spree, he definitely has to get into the mind set of Frank Castle. He had to distance himself from his family to gain a feeling of loneliness, which is heart breaking.
The Punisher has arguably one of the saddest stories of all and one can only imagine what he must feel mentally. Jon Bernthal definitely found the perfect balance of psychotic and crazy, while bringing you into the human element of things. There's a point where you really feel for him and without Jon Bernthal we would not have had this amazing range of emotions.
Jon Bernthal Was Absolutely Fantastic!
There was no bigger bright spot in this season of Daredevil than Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Frank Castle has always been one of favorite characters and I will be the first to say this is the best version of him on screen to date! The level of dedication that he put in was phenomenal and I would like to thank him for a breathtaking performance!
