The Walking Dead first appeared on our screens on 31 October 2010. The story follows former Sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awakening from a coma to find that the world is now filled with a plague of zombies.

Heading to Atlanta to track down his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son Carl (Chandler Riggs), he meets Glenn (Steven Yeun), a fellow survivor, who leads him to a camp where his family have been hiding.

Alongside his family, his friend Shane (Jon Bernthal) and a group of other survivors, they must quickly learn to survive in the bloodthirsty world they now find themselves in.

So, in 2010, Rick Grimes and his comrades head out into the wilderness, trying to survive the onslaught of zombies like the one below.

Which is strange, because this zombie appeared on our screens three years previously in Diary of the Dead (2007) below.

Could it be that the zombie epidemic that Rick and company face has been around way before 2010? Of course not, it's just a severe case of the recurring zombie actor!
