Mike's Horror Den

I stumbled upon this movie one night and in reading the synopsis, it sounded interesting. A desperate young woman is trying to get her life back on track. Streak, as she likes to be called, takes a job as a security guard at an upscale abandoned apartment complex. She starts on the graveyard shift and meets her partner for the night, Cooper, played by Jason Patric. As the night progresses, Streak begins to feel an ominous presence. She begins to discover the hidden secrets of the old building and slowly realizes that her and her partner are not alone. Already unstable, Streak struggles to maintain her sanity and decide what is real and what is not.

Right off the bat you know something is not right with Streak. Her mother is asking if she took her meds and preventing her from speaking to her own daughter. So while battling her personal demons, she takes a job as a night guard. Which all horror fans know is already a huge mistake. Jason Patric adds some comic relief to the film, playing Streak's wheelchair reliant partner. This movie is a real slow burn. It's a little similar to Last Shift, but Last Shift is a way better movie. There aren't any huge moments of terror, just the normal jump scares. There is a twist to the ending, but most people will see it coming. Overall, this isn't a horrible film, I've seen a lot worse, but it's not a film you should rush to see. If you watch it, let me know what you thought.
