Whether the hype is good or bad, [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) has seized control of the Internet. The movie broke records this weekend, taking over $420 million worldwide and already recouping its $410 million budget. Some fans, like myself, absolutely loved the film. I rank it in the top five best superhero movies of all time. Others have it listed on their five worst superhero movies. As I had said many times prior to the film's release, it has polarized the critics, fans and general audience alike.
DC and Warner Bros. are using the hype around their latest blockbuster to promote another movie. You would think it would be Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman, but they are actually promoting the upcoming Lego Batman Movie. Coming to your movie theater on February 10, 2017, The Lego Batman Movie is a spinoff to the 2014 hit The Lego Movie. The sequel focuses on Batman and his adventures, as he was for sure one of the more popular characters from The Lego Movie. The first trailer was released earlier this week to much fanfare, so while Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is still fresh in people's minds, a second trailer for The Lego Batman Movie has been unleashed. Check it out below:
What's interesting is that when I went to see Dawn Of Justice on opening night, we saw this trailer instead of the first one, four days before it dropped online and the same day the first trailer dropped. The jokes were a hit with the theater as it was obviously filled with Batman fans; everyone was talking about how funny it looked and how they want to go see it. What a smart marketing move for Warner Bros., I have to admit. It was the first time in a long time that I'd seen a trailer in the theaters before it dropped online. Usually, studios try to do this, but it ends up leaking online anyways. Tell me in the comments below if you also saw this trailer in the theaters before today (March 28), either in a screening of Batman V Superman or anywhere else.
I actually enjoyed the second trailer a lot more than the first one, which is why I was so frustrated not to find this online after I saw Dawn Of Justice. The scene in Wayne Manor sets the tone and let's the audience know what the movie is going to be about. It's going to take a lot of shots at other movies, like in the trailer when we saw bat nipples. It will be funny for both kids and adults, but will be a huge treat for us DC fans. I am just curious to see whether we will see Emmet and the rest of the gang from The Lego Movie. Either way, I am very pumped for this film.
