We all have childhood stories and memories from when we were young that still have a special place in our hearts. So when fans figured out that Steven Spielberg would be adapting the BFG for the big screen, they responded with overwhelming joy.The BFG is an upcoming fantasy adventure film that Mr. Speilberg will be directing in addition to helming an adaptation of Ready player one. The internet was more than happy when the first trailer dropped online.

Here's the plot synopsis:

Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) befriends a friendly giant named the BFG (Mark Rylance) as they set out on an adventure to capture the evil, man-eating giants who have been invading the human world.

The BFG is a story that many have cherished for a while and seeing an adaptation of something they loved when they were younger is going to tap into alot of childhood memories. The director is definitely a proven talent who is skilled at crafting films that reach audiences on an emotional and sometimes comfort-food level. Spielberg at the helm does bring a bit of confidence that many will flock to the cinema to see how he went about crafting and telling the story. If it manages to perform at a similar rate as the Jungle book movie, disney should expect to have monster-sized returns with this big screen telling of a friendly giant.
