*Spoilers follow for 'Daredevil' Season 2. So if you have not seen it, I do not recommend reading this article until you have seen all of the season.*
I am finally finished Daredevil season 2! I know, I'm very late, but I could only watch it on the weekends. But when I watched it, one of my favorite parts was Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Jon Bernthal is the definitive Punisher for me, and I even really liked Thomas Jane in his movie. But what I thought about the Punisher in Daredevil, was that he should get his own Netflix series, as I'm sure many of you did.
There was actually talk about a series centered around Jon Bernthal's Punisher even before the new season of Daredevil, with Netflix praising the new character and depth Bernthal adds. Marvel has said that they aren't discouraging them from making it, but they just don't need it yet. But I think it will happen eventually, and it will be completely unrelated to the Defenders miniseries.
I think the best thing about a new Punisher series is that it wouldn't have to be an origin story. His origin has already been explained, and he was left with a cliffhanger that could go anywhere. I believe that Frank Castle has already killed the people who killed his family, so he does not seek any more revenge. He plans to be the vigilante Punisher for a long time, and take down the criminals the police won't dare to, and to good in the world.
I don't really know what a Punisher series could be about, and my only idea is the origin of Jigsaw and having him as the villain of the season.
All in all, I really want this series. I don't have too much reasoning except for Jon Bernthal's performance (which I can't praise enough), and the fact that it seems that they were already kind of headed in that direction.
