Daredevil Season 2 review

STARRING: ‪Charlie Cox, Deborah-Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal, Élodie Yung, Rosario Dawson, Stephen Rider Guest Starring/Recurring: Scott Glenn, Michelle Hurd, Royce Johnson, Peter McRobbie, Rob Morgan, Amy Rutberg

THE STORY: After putting away Wilson Fisk, Matt Murdock/Daredevil is really just putting away petty criminals doing his part to keep Hell’s Kitchen clean … but as is always the case in comes a brand new shit storm that backs him into a corner that he has to fight his way out of … literally!

MY THOUGHTS: Look … I loved season 1 of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Daredevil: Season 2 exceeds both of those on every level possible! Charlie Cox after season one I thought was a great choice for the title character, now he IS Daredevil, no one else would have done this character justice. the conflict he oozes throughout the season about maintaining his double life carries the season from his perspective. The chemistry between Cox, Woll and Henson is stronger. Foggy is still a little bitch when it comes to knowing Matts secret nothing changes. Bringing in Frank Castle doesn’t just affect Daredevil, it strongly affects Nelson & Murdock too and that ripples throughout the season.

Speaking of Frank Castle … I’ve been a fan of Jon Bernthal since The Walking Dead …. he is hands down thee best Punisher we’ve ever had. I don’t really remember Dolph Lundgren’s Punisher and I’ve never seen Punisher: War Zone (I Want to blind buy it eventually) but I like The Punisher (2004) with Thomas Jane, but even the ’04 Punisher doesn’t hold a candle to what Bernthal did. His intro, his first line in the season, perfect! His first couple fight scenes, perfect! Episode 3 was probably one of my favorite, and it’s mainly dialogue. There’s another dialogue heavy Punisher scene and it lets you in and gets you to understand his logic. There’s a lot of Punisher is this season, but not so much that I forgot the show is called Daredevil.

It seems like once Elektra finally shows up is when shit really hits the fan. Once Elektra comes, The hand follows and brings all new headaches for Daredevil. Élodie Yung is great as Elektra, punts Jennifer Garner to shame in my opinion. She’s bad ass and mad attractive. Her back story and the back story for The Punisher fit in to the story perfectly and never felt forced.

Scott Glenn returns as Stick crotchety old fuck, and there are a few surprise guest stars. I didn’t catch any Marvel movie references, but a few that connect The Defenders. And in a real Netflix way there technically is a post credits scene

If I have to knock anything, more rosario Dawson is always a plus, she improves upon whatever she’s in and I feel like this show tends to blow its load on the season’s best fight scene way too early in each season.

MY RATING: After all that ... in my opinion … Daredevil: Season 2 is Dope As Fuck! Like I said before it improves on season 1 in every way possible. I’d love a Daredevil: Season 3, but I’m greedy and just want to see The Defenders already!

What’d you guys think of season 2? These Netflix/Marvel shows are the only time I type out reviews I actually enjoy doing these. Luke Cage: Season 1 drops September 30th … see you then!
