Since its colossal Valentine's Day weekend back in February, Deadpool's success has been gaining phenomenal pace at global box offices. In fact, some might say that it's been almost unstoppable, which is something die-hard fans will be leaping for joy upon hearing.
For example, not only did we recently report that Ryan Reynolds's foul-mouthed alter-ego raked in a huge $730 million at worldwide box office but the film also completely smashed Spider-Man 3 to pieces in its bid to be crowned the eighth highest-grossing superhero movie ever. For Fox Studios, this fact alone calls for a tremendous pat on the back and a crispy chimichanga in the mouth, pronto.
However, now it appears that Deadpool has done it again, breaking another astonishing record after being name the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time. With a whopping $746 million at the worldwide box office, it has finally caught up with long-standing frontrunner The Matrix Loaded — back in 2003, the sci-fi blockbuster hit approximately $742.1 million all over the world:
Domestically, the juggernaut still holds the title of the third highest grossing R-rated flick, coming in just behind American Sniper. Who knows though, at the rate that Deadpool is going, this could well change.
Is 'Deadpool' deserving of its title?
