It's been five long years since we sobbed our way through the final Harry Potter film, and it looks like Daniel Radcliffe has been feeling a little nostalgic. Dan dug out the photo album last week and found this absolute gem of himself and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) in the audience of a wrestling match just days before filming for Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone was set to begin.
Daniel shared the snap on his Google Plus account, along with the caption:
Found this and thought I'd share it with you all. Two days before the start of HP1 our producer, David Heyman, took Matthew Lewis, Rupert Grint and me (in my super-cool lime green zip-top!) to WWF INSURRECTION in Sheffield (this was prior to it becoming WWE). Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the whole group. Judging by the sign behind us I think William Regal was making his entrance! And judging by our faces we weren't quite brave enough to boo him.
It was very good night! Go watch the brilliant Mr. Lewis in season 2 of Happy Valley on Netflix! Happy Friday everyone! - Dan
What better way for a group of 11-year-old boys to bond than taking a class trip to a pro-wrestling match?! Nice one, Heyman.
It may seem a little random but in fact, it was probably a dream come true for little Daniel. He told Melvyn Bragg back in 2014:
“I definitely drifted into acting to start with. I saw an interview with myself, they asked me what do you want to do when you grow up and I completely, sincerely and earnestly answer ‘I want to be a professional wrestler,’ because I was very very into WWF at the time.”
Can you imagine?! Wrestling isn't the only badass career path Dan could have taken either; he showcased his awesome rapping skills on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later in 2014:
In an AMA on Reddit last year, Dan also professed that watching wrestling helped him with his American accent:
"And, yeah, you know, in England now when we grow up, there we are, so suffused by American culture, from you know, shows like FRIENDS and FRASIER to the Toy Story movies which I saw when I was obviously very young - I think I've been practicing my American accent - I used to be really into WWF and I would play with wrestling action figures and give them American accents, so I think I've been practicing since I was about 9."
This has got to be one of the greatest (and let's be honest, weirdest) celebrity throwbacks we've seen in a while. It may even beat this shot of the Spice Girls just chillin' with *NSYNC.
And this one of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire hanging out.
Yep, I think Harry Potter and the Hall of Pain takes the prize for my new favorite celebrity throwback.
