WARNING: Spoilers for 'Batman v Superman' will be discussed in this article.
Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is what everyone is buzzing about. Critics panned it, fans loved it, and it's raking in millions at the box office, both domestically and internationally.
What audiences didn't expect was the shocking ending. The final battle included the defeat of Doomsday — as well as the death of Superman. Even though it's an ending that happens in the comic books, Snyder told BuzzFeed News that movie fans didn't expect it to happen on film:
"I was shocked that people did not immediately jump to the conclusion. I think they just felt like, ‘That’s impossible. They’re not going to kill Superman.’ I mean, a couple people did [figure it out], but then they were all yelled at. It was funny."
I'm wondering how Snyder was able to keep this huge twist such a secret even after the film's early screenings. He explains that he filmed Clark Kent's funeral with members of the crew as extras:
"Literally the electricians, camera guys. My script supervisor's child is the kid [in the scene]."
I suppose Superman had to die for the Justice League to be born. And it's not like we didn't know the story from the comics. But still! Rest in peace, Superman.
