Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!
After attending Juilliard, graduating from Harvard, surviving the black plague and laughing his way through the Exorcist approximately 167 times, everyone's favorite 'Ghost With the Most' popped up to wreak havoc in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice 28 years ago this week.
So, what better excuse than to take a look at what the stars of the creepy classic look like today?
Firstly though, for those unfamiliar, the brilliant fantasy tale followed the recent demise of the Maitland's as they familiarized themselves with the afterlife via an aid in the shape of the 'Handbook for the Recently Deceased,' an obnoxious ghost named Betelgeuse and a gothic teenager with a great bangs game.
In true Tim Burton style, the movie is jam packed with creepy quirks; there's a seance, a forced marriage, a waiting room filled with distressed souls and, of course, a brilliant dinner table rendition of Harry Belafonte's 'Banana Boat Song (Day-O).'
Three decades later, these lost souls still look as good now as the day they departed. Check it out:
1. Beetlejuice/Betelgeuse - Michael Keaton
"Let's turn on the juice and see what shakes loose."
2. Lydia Deetz - Winona Ryder
"My whole life is a dark room. One big dark room."
3. Adam Maitland - Alec Baldwin
"We're not completely helpless, Barbara. I've been reading that book and there's a word for people in our situation: ghosts."
4. Barbara Maitland - Geena Davis
Barbara: Well, I can't clean anything properly. The vacuum's out in the garage and we can't leave the house. Why don't they tell us something? I mean, where are all the other dead people in the world? Why is it just you and me?
Adam: Maybe this is heaven.
Barbara: In heaven there wouldn't be dust on everything.
5. Delia Deetz - Catherine O'Hara
"Charles, I will not stop living and breathing art just because you need to relax."
6. Charles Deetz - Jeffrey Jones
"What are you gonna do, Otho, viciously rearrange their environment?"
