Heath Ledger's father Kim has spoken out about the heartbreak he and his family still feel everyday about the sudden, tragic death of his son while also hinting that a biopic could be on the cards, but not in the near future out of respect for Heath's private nature.
The 66-year-old told The Daily Telegraph that he was still "pretty sensitive" about any topic centering around Heath's sudden death and that, understandably, media interest in Ledger's life was "a little difficult" for him and his relatives.
Kim went on to reveal that the biopic of Heath Ledger's life "could happen," although he doesn't think the time is right just yet. He explained to interviewers that:
"Heath was a pretty quiet individual so [a biopic] is not something we'd really be interested in participating in. I have no doubt somebody will do something one day but when the timing for that is right, I don't know when that will be."
Heath Ledger's father has been dedicated to respectfully preserving his son's memory, so it's understandable that he wants there to be a considerable distance between Heath's death and a dramatization of the events that led to it.
Of course, with an actor of Heath Ledger's calibre, it would be a huge challenge to cast someone who can do him justice. Personally, I would love to see Joseph Gordon Levitt in the role, not only for the physical resemblance, but for his incredible acting range and personal connection to the late The Dark Knight star.
Who do you think could do Heath Ledger justice in a biopic?
