It's been more than 30 years since the sci-fi cult classic Blade Runner first hit the silver screen, which must mean it's well overdue for a sequel. For years there have been talks of a followup, but it wasn't until 2011 when fans saw some real headway.

Even though it's taken five years to get the momentum going on the long-awaited sequel, things are finally falling into place — and Warner Bros. has the casting to prove it.

According to Variety, House Of Cards actress Robin Wright is in final negotiations to star in the second movie alongside Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. Sicario's Denis Villeneuve will be directing the project penned by Hampton Fancher — one of the original co-screenwriters — and Michael Green.

We don't know much about the new film's storyline or Wright's potential role, but the current screenplay is based off a story outlined by Fancher and original director Ridley Scott. The sequel will allegedly take place a few decades after the original, which was set in a retrofitted 2019.

Principal filming for the Blade Runner sequel will take place this summer.

What kind of role would you like to see Robin Wright play in a 'Blade Runner' sequel?
