It isn't even a spoiler anymore, the fact that Ant-Man is going to be on Cap's side in [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409). I'm pretty sure everyone here has seen the trailer. Whoops, excuse me, trailers. And in case you haven't, oh you poor soul, here's one of them:
Now! Going back to the main topic, how will Ant-Man benefit Cap in his 'war' against the genius, billionaire, philanthropist, playboy?
The Powers of the Ant-Man: A Shrink in Time
Based off the film (and the comic books of course), plenty of us know that Ant-Man has the ability to shrink to the size of an insect. Yet despite the decrease in size, he ironically has an increase of strength.
Of course, this will come into handy when infiltrating the enemy (a.k.a Team Stark). With the shrinking, he could get into their gear and destroy it. Or even still, he could get into their base during the film. And the thing is, they probably wouldn't even see him coming at that size.
A Friend of the Ants
Hence the name, which he cannot change (pun intended), Ant-Man can control ants. As Dr. Hank mentioned in the film, ants work together in a colony, and each colony needs a leader. In our case, Scott's become the leader of the ants, making him have his own army. He controls them using an earpiece, and a lot of training from Hank's daughter, Hope.
Well, he also has a flying ant, who is Anthony (hehe, funny how he's got a flying ant called Anthony and his enemy's name is just that).
This will be superbly beneficial to Cap, since he'll already have a little army of his own, and will also have the savage army of ants in hand. The ants will certainly be deadly to the enemy, especially the fire ants. And if you don't think that's savage, well, just watch Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.
And of course, I wouldn't dare forget the advantage of working with Dr. Hank, Pym tech. Scott Lang (Ant-Man) is already wearing Pym Tech due to the suit, so naturally, Hank could help him with the tech when he joins Cap's team.
Another highly important factor, which in my opinion will come into great use for Captain America, is the fact that Stark has been trying to get his hands on Pym's tech, sort of building a nemesis between the two. Since Howard was after his work, Tony may still be after it. And according to Hank, the Iron Man suite is pure child play compared to the work he has done, so that only means that he can make more dangerous weaponry.
A Significant Asset
As cliche as it sounds, the situation here is simple: small but powerful. Scott Lang will definitely be a great member of Team Cap, not only due to the tech he has or the power he holds, but also because of his loyalty to others. So this means that Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and the Winter Soldier are going to have to deal with Scott's cheeky attitude.
I believe the thing I'd like to see is how they introduce Ant-Man to Team Cap, and I think it will probably be pretty funny.
So there's that! The movie comes out on: April 12th
