Oliver tries to get over Felicity by rigorously training the team. Laurel tells him she knows why he is acting that way and offers him a shoulder to cry on. Brie Larvan orchestrates her release from prison and travels to Star City in search of the implantable bio stimulant that is enables Felicity to walk. Brie attacks Palmer Tech, holding the board hostage until Felicity turns herself over. Felicity, Thea and Donna make their way down to the conference rooom to save the board members. Lance alerts the team that Donna is there with Felicity and Thea. Wanting to help save Felicity, Curtis tracks down the Arrowcave, discovering his secret in the process, so that he can offer his help to the team to save Felicity, her mother, and Thea. The team arrives at Palmer Tech, and are attacked by a robotic Bee Man. In the frenzy Oliver is stung by one of Brie's robotic bees. Back at the Arrowcave, Curtis realizes the sting actually implanted a bee within Oliver and is replicating itself. Laurel uses her Canary Cry to disrupt the frequency controlling the bees to save Oliver. Felicity and Thea are able to evacuate the board members, while Brie reveals she is after the chip because she has a tumor that is going to leave her paralyzed. Curtis develops an arrow with a virus to shut down the bees, which works and they are able to stop Brie. Oliver fights the Bee Man but it overpowers him and Thea. Felicity destroys it by electrocuting it with a broken lamp. Curtis gains control over the bees and attack Brie with them. Oliver thanks Curtis and invites to help them any time. Meanwhile, Damien is visited by Malcolm who tells him Genesis is moving forward without him. He is then attacked by other inmates one of them being Mr. Mar, but uses his connections to turn them against each other. Andy Diggle is revealed to be working with Malcolm. In flashbacks, Oliver goes after Reiter who reveals that the idol has already started to grant him mystical powers. As his powers dwindle, Reiter escapes into the tunnels.
All that epic training in the beginning just to get wrecked again this week. Black Canary, Mr. Terrific and Felicity were given a chance to shine this week!
Brie Larvan: An enemy of the Flash and an expert hacker. Brie is now able to control her robotic bees neurologically. She goes to Star City to get the blue prints for the tech that allowed Felicity to walk again. She could have just asked.
Team Arrow- With Darhk in jail the city has been a little too quiet for the team. So with the spare time they have Oliver just kicks everyone's asses to take his mind off of a certain someone. Then walks in Curtis who just adds this charisma that's been missing. Not only was he an excellent addition but he brought the laughs too. A spot did Just open up and he is the perfect candidate.
Oliver and Laurel- The only person to really know how Oliver is feeling was her. He felt uncomfortable talking to her about it because he also screwed up their relationship, but she reminded him that he was a beecon of hope to the people in the city. And that it wasn't wrong to save some of that hope for himself. Green Arrow and Black Canary are end game. Or at least we'd like to think that.
Oliver and Felicity-Even though they are not together anymore they still really love each. This was the first time in a long time we didn't see these two argue with each other about anything. Maybe they really were just not meant to be. He will always be looking out for though and she will always be thinking of him.
Oliver and Curtis- Curtis reaction to finding out the truth about Team Arrow was hilarious. His personality and Oliver's clashed and It was awesome. Oliver was pretty harsh on him when he said that they needed to celebrate the small victories or else you forget what you were fighting for. Sounds familiar right. Curtis ended up really coming though for the team and earned Oliver's respect. Hell he even got an apology.
Oliver and Thea- She was pretty impressed that her brother knew things outside of being a superhero. He even said it was okay for her to go to Felicity to talk about giving Alex a job so that he wouldn't work for Ruve.
Oliver and Diggle- The very thing that Curtis said about celebrating small victories is exactly what Diggle said at the beginning during their sparring session. He was rolling his eyes when he saw that Oliver was getting pissed at Curtis saying the same thing. Come Oliver listen to your brother.
Oliver, Taiana and Reiter- Their little plan to kill Reiter didn't go so well, but they didn't die either.Oliver got the full dose of a suped up Reiter. Its amazing that Oliver went toe to toe with the guy and actually kind of won.
Felicity and Curtis-These two are like siblings. We wonder if him possibly team Arrow will put a damper on their relationship. He did however play a big part in saving her, Thea and Donna from getting their asses stung.
Felicity and Thea- at least Felicity still makes time to help out her friends.Thea tried to get Felicity to rejoin the team but she just didn't want to. She told Thea that she didn't need to be in the team to make a difference. Plus it would be hard to work with Oliver considering the circumstances.
Laurel and Curtis- After Oliver laid the verbal beat down on him Laurel stood up for him. Curtis couldn't hide his excitement finding out that she was the Black Canary and kept saying how bad ass she was.
Curtis and Lance- The funniest part of the whole entire episode was when they were running away from a rogue robotic bee. Curtis got to showcase his parkour skills in the most goofiest fashion and Lance was his knight in shining armor by killing the thing. His scream was the highlight of the episode for sure.
Curtis and Paul- He can't just be running out on his husband like that, especially since he had a fever. Hopefully Curtis being on Team Arrow doesn't ruin their relationship down the line.
Felicity and Donna- Her mom was also funny this episode. Even in the face of death she had time to talk about Felicity's love life and superficial things. This photo pretty much sums up their relationship.
Damien and Malcolm- Malcolm better watch what he says to Darhk before he loses that other arm. He told Damien that they would be moving forward with Genesis without him and that pissed the guy off. He may be acting all high and mighty now, but Damien isn't going down without a fight.
Malcolm and Andy- We're hoping that this isn't what it looks like, but it really just does. After everything that his older brother went through to set him straight, he decides to get in bed with Malcolm. For real dude. We'll see where this gets him next episode.
Harry Potter Reference- Oliver showed the team that was kind of in tune with pop culture. He said that Felicity wasn't Voldemort and that they could say her name in front of him.
Dodger- An old friend of Team Arrow
Star Trek Reference- Curtis said that Bries bees were like the Borg
Aliens Reference- Curtis said this was what was happening to Oliver
Panic Room Reference- Mama Smoak said that it Johnny Foster starred in it.
Independence Day Reference- Lance pointed out that Curtis plan was similar to the one in the film.
What's To Come/Theories:
Somebody will die at 'Eleven-Fifty-Nine' next week. We are getting closer to finding out who is in that grave. They give us this fun and hilarious episode just to prepare us for the death next week. In the previews it looks like Oliver has caught on to what Andy is doing and tries to get some answers. Then Diggle points the gun at both of them not knowing which brother to shoot. For all we know it could be a mass grave we see. If we had to guess it would be Lance, Donna, Andy or Lyla. Maybe even all of them. Another crazy theory would have Felicity be in the grave and have Oliver hallucinating her. That happens a lot to him when someone he loves dies. All would have an effect on the Team. The while Genesis thing has been pretty quiet lately and hopefully it is as epic as they have been building it up to be. Damien will for sure be getting out of jail sometime soon and there's gonna be some hell to pay.
First and foremost it was pretty great of the show to promote the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. Go check out the links above and below to learn more about it. The last time I saw this promoted on a CW show was when Christopher promoted it himself along with Tom Welling during and episode he cameoed in on Smallville. The addition of Curtis to Team Arrow was we needed after all of the darhkness we watched the team go through since the start of the season. 'Beacon of Hope' was light-hearted, fun and overall awesome. The bad guy was pretty cool too. We give this 10 T-Spheres out of 10. What did you think about the episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
