Production on Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 might well be underway — and we now only have a little over a year to wait to continue falling in love with Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket, Drax and pals — but that doesn't mean that director James Gunn is quite done with the original Guardians Of The Galaxy just yet.
Y'see, while Gunn's first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might no longer be the new kid on the block, it seems that there are still a few awesome secrets left to be uncovered. In fact...
James Gunn Just Revealed A New 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Deleted Scene
Specifically, Gunn just posted a shiny new deleted scene to his Facebook page.
The unusual thing about that scene? It's only one image, entitled "Groot's Last Supper."
As Gunn explained in the caption...
This was a shot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 that got cut from the movie and was never finished. The great artists over at Framestore [a London-based visual effects company] finished a frame and just gave it to me as a gift. Thanks, guys!
...before noting in the comments both the location of the scene within the movie...
It was from the end of the scene where Drax is getting drunk and rooting on the F'saki chasing the Orloni.
...and the reason it was cut from the film in the first place — which apparently had nothing to do with its religious connotations:
"...this scene wasn't cut because anyone thought it was blasphemous, it was just a slow moment in the wrong place in the film."
All of which is: a) awesome, and b) keeps hope alive that there might just be some more awesomeness hidden behind the scenes of Guardians Of The Galaxy, just waiting to be revealed...
What do you reckon, though?
Do you want to see more behind the scenes awesomeness from 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'?
