Although it's been more than a year since we went on an intergalactic adventure with Star-Lord and his gang, there are apparently some Easter Eggs in Guardians Of The Galaxy still waiting to be spotted.
Director James Gunn teased one back in September in a Facebook Q&A session, saying of the movie's Easter Eggs that they "have not all been found. No one has found the big one, really." And although various theories have been formed about what the movie could still possibly be hiding, fans are still searching and Gunn isn't really helping.
'An Easter Egg No One Has Seemed To Notice'
But the fact that he hasn't dropped any more hints about the "big one" hasn't prevented Gunn from revealing other stuff that surprisingly hadn't been spotted either. In a comment below a picture he shared of the cut-out "Last Supper" scene, where Groot sits in the middle of the table, Gunn pointed out that there was a Biblical reference involving Groot that did make it into the movie.
If you watch the scene of the crashing ship again, when Groot branches out to protect the rest of the Guardians and sacrifices himself, you can see him get on one knee with his arms stretched out like a cross. Plus, like a cross would be, Groot is literally made of wood. The stance of the rest of the characters also gives the feeling of a painting or Biblical setting, with Peter Quill holding the body of Rocket and Gamora weeping over Drax.
Adding that to the Last Supper scene, we've got a strong parallel between Groot and Jesus.
