The upcoming Marvel series for Netflix, Iron Fist, is slowly putting its cast together, and inspiration seems to have come from HBO's Game Of Thrones. After choosing Finn Jones to play Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick has now been announced for the role of Colleen Wing.
While Jones is known for his role as Loras Tyrell in GoT, Henwick plays Nymeria Sand and also had a role last year in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Jess Testor, one of the X-wing pilots of the Resistance.
Henwick Is The 'Perfect Colleen Wing'
Henwick's character Colleen Wing is Iron Fist's ally and one of the two "Daughters Of The Dragon," alongside Misty Knight. In the upcoming show, Colleen will own and operate a dojo.
For Jeph Loeb, executive vice president at Marvel Television, Henwick is the ideal addition to the cast:
"Jessica brings both a youthful vitality mixed with a strong sense of authority crucial to the character… And as anyone who's seen her in 'Game Of Thrones' can attest, she can throw down with the best of them, making her the perfect Colleen Wing."
Marvel's 'Iron Fist' Is A Part Of The Defenders Series
Iron Fist sees Daniel Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist, return to New York City to fight its criminals, having disappeared for several years prior. Introduced in the Marvel Comics in the 1970s, Iron Fist is a superhero with high-level training in martial arts that allows him to channel the power of a force called the Iron Fist.
The show is a part of a four-series order placed by Netflix in 2013: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, the upcoming Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which are set to eventually culminate in the miniseries The Defenders. The Defenders are originally a group of superhero outsiders, and have included various characters such as Doctor Strange, the Hulk, Luke Cage and Nighthawk.
