After Daniel Cormier announced that he wouldn't be fighting Jon Jones at UFC 197 due to a knee injury, there were many people who could have been plugged in for the April 23rd bout.
One of those people who many fans expected to get the nod was Anthony Johnson.
And while Anthony Johnson was, indeed, contacted, it appears that he was unable to accept the bout due to the fact that he was forced to go through a dental procedure recently.
UFC President Dana White announced on SportsCenter that Jones would be facing Ovince Saint Preux for the interim UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 197, and he elaborated a bit on Johnson's mouth surgery too. He revealed that the light heavyweight star would be unable to wear a mouthpiece for several weeks due to the procedure.
ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto verified this:
What do you think?
Would you have rather seen Anthony Johnson fight Jon Jones?
