It's no secret that pretty much every Hollywood star started out doing lesser known indies, short films and student films, before catching their break. And it's always fun for us when we're checking out one of these cool shorts and catch a glimpse of their early work. Some of it is really impressive, and you definitely see why a particular performer made their way up the ranks.
If you follow our blog, you may have caught our recent article about Melissa McBride and a short she did entitled Lost Crossing by BlueLantern Films. Now, every time I watch Carol kicking ass on The Walking Dead, it absolutely blows me away how similar her Lost Crossing character is...almost as if it was a dress rehearsal for Carol.
So when we get short film submissions here at Hillbilly Horror Show we are always keeping our eyes peeled for familiar faces, and did we ever find two big ones to share with you!
Before she was playing "Officer Dawn Lehner" on The Walking Dead, actress Christine Woods starred as "Kare Bear" in the short thriller, Franky and the Ant, which has garnered 20 awards worldwide. Touting stats like that made Franky a no-brainer selection as the kickoff short for Hillbilly Horror Show: Volume 1, and Christine's performance is fantastic!
Look familiar? Hmmm, no? That is none other than a young Katherine McNamara, starring in Get Off My Porch, one of her earliest films. Katherine has soared to fame with projects like Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, but you can her in this awesome short; part of Hillbilly Horror Show: Volume 3!
