Kylie Jenner is having a rough time of it lately — first she loses her shit at a fan outside Nice Guy in Hollywood and then her bizarre promo vid for her lip glosses receives backlash for being gratuitously violent for no apparent reason. And now, the company that produces her lip kits has been attacked for being what is essentially a sweat shop. Ouch.
Her sold-out kit has already earned her millions of dollars but new reports flooding in are claiming that Spatz Laboratories at Oxnard (where the products are being manufactured) offer terrible working conditions for employees. According to Indeed.com, the company has an overall rating of less than three stars. Below are some of the "glowing" reviews it has received in recent months:
"A lot of employees, not enough space."
"The make up particles made me cough and sick."
“Long hours, no home life.”
"The pay is very minimal for the amount of work that is requested with no benefits … work environment very uncomfortable.”
"Oily floors. Dangerous place to work. Smells of gases. Dirty atmosphere."
And it's not just the employees that are reporting the below-par standards at the facility. Apparently, an FDA inspection report from 2006 found:
Equipment used in the manufacture, processing, packing, or holding of drug products is not of appropriate design, of adequate size, and suitably located to facilitate operations for its intended use.
Although it appears these issues have since been remedied, it doesn't seem as if employees are having a better time plopping make-up goop into Kylie's lip gloss tubes.
Sort it out Kylizze honey! You've been at the damn facility, you know what it's like:
Would you get a Kylie Jenner lip kit?
