Grief does strange things to people. When Michelle Rodriguez lost close friend Paul Walker she admitted she went entirely off the rails.
In a TMZ clip from new documentary The Reality of Truth the 37-year-old actress said that during this nutty period post-2013 a drug she took provoked a feeling of envy towards Walker because he passed first. She said:
"I did everything I could possibly do to hide from myself. My Ayuhausca trip made me sad that he left me here. It wasn't a sadness that he's gone, it was more like a jealousy that he's there first."
Ayuhausca is a plant-based brew associated with ceremonies of some indigenous Amazonian Peruvians. The boiled leaves have a psychedelic effect when drunk. The star of four of The Fast and Furious films continued:
"I have to say, you know, when I lost Paul, I went through about a year of just being an animal. Like, what could I do, physically, to just get my mind off of existentialism?
"Get my mind off of how transient life is and how we come here and can just disappear at any moment. How could I get my mind off that? ... Summer. Crazy. Nuts. Beserk-o. "
Walker tragically died when the Porsche he was in crashed into a pole and burst into flames in 2013. The Fast and Furious star had been travelling 94mph in a 45mph zone.
The Reality of Truth is a documentary hosted by Mike "Zappy" Zapolin that claims to be controversial for its exploration of the link between spirituality, religion and psychedelics.
