Lock your doors and board up the windows, the long awaited Outlast 2 reveal is coming soon according to a creepy new trailer released today.
Earlier today, Red Barrels released another one of their somewhat unsettling trailers. The clip again sees an upside cross against a darkened clouded sky -- except this time, playing over the top of the flickering image is a seriously freaky bit of audio.
A jumbled nonsensical haunted rambling is what we all heard, but as you might expect, there was a lot more to the trailer than originally perceived. The video was actually playing in reverse. You can see the original video below.
When played the correct way round, we hear the sinister ramblings of what we presume to be a cult member. It is now that we start to realize what the heck he is actually talking about.
Amidst the creepy preaching we hear a clear and distinct date mentioned. The voice on the tape refers specifically to the fourth month and the 22nd day, that’s April 22 or PAX East to you and me.
It seems that the world will be getting its first gameplay reveal of the new Outlast title at PAX in Boston at the end of this month.
Exciting times! The first Outlast took the gaming world by storm as the player attempted to navigate their way out of an old asylum with the aid of just a night vision camera. It was seriously spooky stuff.
The next installment is set to take us away from the asylum and into "a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets".
So far, the only smidgen of gameplay detail we have is this eerie image.
Who is that? Protagonist or antagonist? What we may be able to say with a large degree of certainty is that she is female. The thinner arm and slender leg - along with that tattered looking dress. So where does an axe-wielding female fit into Outlast 2? Theories people, theories?
Outlast 2 is slated for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime in the autumn with first gameplay details potentially being revealed this month at PAX East.
