The final episode of The Walking Dead's Season 6 has got everyone chattering about that cliffhanger — and while this is reflected in the viewership, the entire season didn't exactly set the ratings on fire.

The 16th episode garnered a huge gain compared to previous episodes. Indeed, "Last Day On Earth" drew a 6.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 14.19 million viewers total.

This is an increase from last week's 5.9 rating and 12.38 million total. But when you compare it to the Season 5 finale, The Walking Dead has experienced an ample drop. Just a year ago, TWD was pulling in an 8.2 rating and 15.78 million total viewers.

We won't have to wait too long to figure out who was on the receiving end of Negan's deadly bat at the end of the Season 6 finale, as The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season in October.
