Check out our podcast here if you want to hear us talk about it:
Mack, struggling with the departure of Morse and Hunter, takes time off to be with his brother Reuben. When an online hate group called the Watchdogs uses Howard Stark-developed nitramene bombs to perform a terrorist attack on an ATCU facility, Coulson suspects that former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Felix Blake—who had been committed to the advancement of nitramene technology and has been missing since having his back broken by Deathlok—has taken over the group. Ruben becomes disillusioned with Mack when he leaves to investigate a Watchdog base with Daisy and Fitz, accidentally revealing his S.H.I.E.L.D. agent status, but Mack is able to improve their relationship when he fends off a group of the terrorists that attack the brothers. Daisy and Fitz are able to stop one of nitramene bombs Fitz was tagged with. Meanwhile Jemma takes up gun training so that she can defend herself, still feeling guilty for letting Andrew free. She then helps May track him down and tells her that she and Fitz can help him with a cure they are working on. Coulson takes Campbell to search Blake's known safe houses, and the two are confronted by Blake in one via hologram. He reveals that Hydra is backing him and the Watchdogs in their crusade to kill all Inhumans, Daisy and Coulson realize that the attack was a cover for Hydra to steal something from the ATCU. Mr. Giyera meets with Blake to talk about their arrangement, revealing the stolen item from the ATCU to be a nuke.
Everybody got to do some ass kicking this episode, but it was all about the Mackenzie brothers. Just them a shotgun axe and some assault rifle vs the Watchdogs.
Felix Blake: A former S.H.I.E.L.D agent and colleague of Coulson who became disillusioned with Hydra's lie to help him take out the Inhumans. Another guy getting into bed with Malick who will eventually end up dead. He's wheelchair bound and connects with his troops via hologram.
Coulson and Lincoln- These two haven't seen eye to eye since he started staying at the Playground. Coulson knows that the only reason he joined was because of Daisy, but he saw potential in him. He just wanted to see it for himself. Lincoln got to prove himself to the Director himself this episode after Coulson invited him along and it looks like he impressed him. This is the start of a beautiful partnership.
Mack and Reuben- Reuben looked up to his older brother literally and figuratively. Yes he was a little surprised and upset to find out that Mack was lying to him about his day job, but in the end, he realized what a badass he was. You could see the pride in his face after Daisy tells him that Mack is one of the best agents they have.
Daisy, Mack and Fitz- The squad. Fitz actually got to get his hands dirty out in the field after a while. Their banter while investigating the ATCU facility was hilarious. Daisy just couldn't keep up with the technical lingo they were using. After their recon mission went to crap, Daisy and Fitz were left to remove a Nitromene bomb stuck on Fitz and Mack having to deal with his brother. Everybody came out alive though, so that is what's important.
May and Jemma- Jemma is beginning to channel her inner badass and May is there to help. They both join forces to track Andrew, but have different perspectives of what should be done with him. May wants to kill him as he is a danger as Lash, while Jemma tries to convince her that they have a potential cure. That they could save Andrew.
Daisy and Lincoln- They only talked for brief moment and Daisy asked Coulson if he could come along. Of course boss said no, but he had something else in mind. Hopefully we see him fight along side her sometime soon. It's long overdue.
Avengers- Felix Blake is still mad that they saved the planet. Kicked Loki's, the Chitauri's and Ultron's ass. While he gets his ass kicked by Deathlok.
Damage Control- We love how they just plug in upcoming shows. Count on these guys to clean up after the superheroes and villains mess.
What's To Come/Theories:
Hive is finally back at full strength and looking like Neo. Hopefully we are in for an epic battle between him and Daisy's Secret Warriors. From the preview's for tonight's 'Spacetime' the team finally finds out about Hive. It must be hard for Coulson to see someone he killed come back to finish the job as the host for an all powerful Inhuman. Hive and his team of misfits are sure to give S.H.I.E.L.D. In times like these we miss having Bobbi and Hunter around. With the impending destruction we hope that this will somehow tie in to Civil War in some way. It's got to, it's in the same universe. Another clip from the episode shows a man who says that "he" showed him the future pointing out to Daisy that he knew the attack on the city was going to happen. We also see Iron Malick using his nifty robotic arms to flip a table and our beloved S.H.I.E.L.D agents preparing themselves for all out war.
A super action packed Mack-centric episode is what we needed after all of the sadness that went down over a week and a half ago. Finding out your brother is an agents of a secret organization who's mission is to protect the world is pretty badass don't you say. We also finally got to see the famous shotgun axe in all of it's glory. We need more of this. We give 'Watchdogs' 10 shotgun axes out of 10. What did you think about the episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
