Before we get started, I don't want you to get too excited. Yes, the understated and brilliant Salem is returning for a much-deserved third season. That's the good news. The bad news is it won't actually be aired for ages — Halloween this year, in fact.

But despite the fact we have a while to wait, let's take a look at the trailer for the new season below:

The show premiered on WGN America in April 2014 and has gone on to become the channel's most successful and highest-rated show.

The premise of the series is inspired by the real-life Salem witch trials that occurred in Massachusetts in the 17th century. Running between February 1692 and May 1693, the trials resulted in the execution of 20 people.

Janet Montgomery stars in the leading role as Mary Sibley, an imposing witch who uses black magic and her conjuring abilities to control the trials. Shane West, Seth Gabel and Tamzin Merchant also feature.

Controversial shock rocker Marilyn Manson will also make a guest appearance in the upcoming season. It looks like all our sweet dreams are coming true.

Are you a fan of 'Salem'? Do you think Halloween is too long to wait?
