We're a little over a month away from discovering Nathan Drake's ultimate fate and the excitement in the air is almost palpable. For those who can't wait that long, Sony has released an extended section of gameplay that's sure to whet your treasure-hungry appetite.

What's immediately clear from the video is that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End looks staggeringly beautiful, harnessing the power of the PS4 to render bigger, more detailed environments for this final grand adventure.

The footage is taken from the game's 10th Chapter (around a third of the way through, if the other games are anything to go by), dubbed 'The Twelve Towers'. It's a section that shows off the game's more open ended structure, letting the player explore environments much larger than any charted during the previous entires. Check it out!

Naughty Dog has long since led the video game industry when it comes to technical ambition. Much like Uncharted's intrepid hero Nathan Drake, this is a studio that settles for nothing less than greatness.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is due for release on PlayStation 4 on May 10.
