Guillermo del Toro, DreamWorks and Netflix might sound like the kind of dream team that only exists in our wildest fantasies, but this powerhouse trio will in reality be working together to bring us the animated series Trollhunters.

After del Toro's young adult fiction bounced around as a potential feature-length film back in 2010, the series finally found its home with the online streaming provider Netflix.

Today, DreamWorks Animation released its first image of the upcoming project — and it looks like we're going to be in for quite the troll-hunting adventure.

It's not much, but with a steaming blade and monster of that size, I'm already intrigued. And is it just me, or does this statuesque new creature share a striking resemblance to Sully from Monsters, Inc.? Maybe it's just the blue backlighting.

Here's the official synopsis for Trollhunters from DreamWorks Animation:

DreamWorks TROLLHUNTERS will unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia who make a startling discovery that the world beneath their hometown is as vast and mind-blowing as anything on the surface. A global must-see viewing event for the entire family, DreamWorks TROLLHUNTERS will bring viewers of all ages around the world into the rich and creative mind of Guillermo del Toro.

Del Toro and DreamWorks are already known for creating vibrant and fantastical worlds, so I trust that the fate of Trollhunters is in good hands.

We're not aware of an official release date as of yet, but 'Trollhunters' will premiere on Netflix sometime this year.
