Who hasn't watched a couple in a movie or TV show and totally convinced their brain that the two are sharing their actual lives together? I mean, an actor couldn't possibly be someone else than their character, could they? Like, there was no way that Leonardo DiCaprio wasn't Jack in real life.
Which is why it was always a relief, and even a super duper good surprise, when we didn't have to face reality too much and could continue shipping our favorite on-screen couples — because they were also couples in real life.
Here are nine romances that started in a script, but continued even after shooting was wrapped.
1. Kit Harington & Rose Leslie
Game of Thrones's Jon Snow and Ygritte's relationship became one for the actors too. They just recently confirmed they were dating by showing up to the Olivier Awards in London together.
2. Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
One of the most famous celebrity couples on and off-screen, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while Pitt was still in a relationship with Jennifer Aniston. More than 10 years later, they are still a happy couple and now happy parents.
3. Jenna Dewan-Tatum & Channing Tatum
As Step Up first led us to believe, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum are a match made in heaven. They're also both fantastic dancers, with Jenna reinterpreting her husband's iconic Magic Mike number on the set of Lip Sync Battle.
4. Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's romance has been a bumpy ride, but it seems like the spark that ignited between them when they filmed The Last Song never truly died, as the pair are now rumored to be engaged.
5. Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have shipped each other ever since they met on That '70s Show. Kunis even admitted that her first real kiss was with Kutcher for the show!
6. Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson
Ahh, the Twilight couple. One of the most iconic romances in the eyes of teenagers around the world, the relationship between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, a.k.a. Edward and Bella, ended with a tough breakup — but the pair are now reportedly on good terms.
7. Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were cast together in The Amazing Spider-Man because of their chemistry, so it's no surprise that they became a couple in real life. Unfortunately, the pair split in 2015.
8. Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner
Our new Batman met his future wife on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001 (while he was dating J.Lo!), but it's on the set of Daredevil that they fell in love. They just recently divorced, but are maintaining an amicable relationship for their kids.
9. Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams
Did you know that one of the biggest symbols of on-screen love actually hated each other when they were filming? The Notebook director, Nick Cassavetes, admitted that making the film was far from easy, saying, "Maybe I’m not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not." Nevertheless, they went on to date for several years.
