Exactly 25 years ago yesterday, altruistic duck Drake Mallard and his arrogant alter ego, Darkwing Duck, made their very first appearance on the Disney Channel. The daring duck of mystery was a huge hit with cartoon-crazy kids in the '90s, who would rush home from school to get their fix — and it's not hard to see why. Darkwing was a cape-wearing, crime-fighting, seriously badass mofo.

Running for 91 episodes, the show centered around the adventures of both Darkwing and his nice but dim sidekick, Launchpad McQuack, as they worked to keep their hometown of St. Canard safe from attackers, and now Joe Books is publishing a new Darkwing Duck ongoing comic book series which is expected to debut later this month.

In honor of the show's silver anniversary, we thought we would do a roundup of our favorite villains. Check them out below.

1. Bushroot

Not only did this plant/duck hybrid have a great origin story, he was also an awesome member of the Fearsome Five.

2. Megavolt

Simpsons voice actor Dan Castellaneta always brought an element of fun to the character.

3. Quackerjack

Although totally unpredictable, you could always count on this crazed toymaker for gags. He also had the best henchmen!

4. Splatter Phoenix

The ability to bring stuff to life with paint?! Hard to match, and she was pretty cute too.

5. Negaduck

Darkwing's ultimate nemesis definitely deserves a spot on this list, partly due to Jim Cummings's brilliant voice work.

6. Steelbeak

Could Steelbeak be any suaver? Definitely the James Bond of the bunch.

Who was your favorite villain on 'Darkwing Duck'?
