Whether you have superhero fatigue or just over-excitement for the many TV shows and movies coming in the next few years, you can't deny this is the age of superheroes. And it looks like the TV side will be getting a huge expansion. Aside rom having shows like 'Daredevil', 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage', 'Iron Fist', 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'but now add to that list 'Cloak and Dagger'.

That's right, after many years of speculation and rumors, The Disney-owned company Freeform, previously (ABC Family) has greenlit the project with a straight-to-series order, meaning they will skip the "Pilot" process.

It will be based on the Marvel characters Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson who become Cloak and Dagger respectively. two teenage runways from very different backgrounds, with Tandy being the daughter of a famous super model and Tyrone having lost his friend when he was unjustly shot and killed by police.

They were soon sold to a criminal organization for illegal chemical testing. They survived their tests and ran away but discovered Tyrone had been engulfed by darkness and was hunted by a constant hunger, which Tandy satisfied with her glowing light. They then decided to combat drug-dealers, help runaway children and developed a romance.

According to Variety, the series will be a superhero love story aimed at their "Becomers" or "young adult" audience, ages 14-34.

Currently, the project has no writers attached but search is underway. Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios will co-produce.

Although there was no confirmation of whether or not this show will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's safe to expect it will, considering all the material Marvel Studios has put out so far is supposedly set in the MCU.
