Chronos disables the Waverider and flees back into the timestream, taking Snart with him. Rip is forced to reset Gideon to undo Chronos' sabotage, leaving him, Stein and Jax temporarily stranded in the timestream. Meanwhile, two years pass for Ray, Sara, and Kendra who have moved to Hub City. After his Time Beacon fails to work Sara decides to leave and wishes Kendra and Ray good luck. Ray and Kendra build a life together. With Ray being a Professor and Kendra a librarian. while Sara rejoins (from her perspective) the League of Assassins. She moves up quickly in the League impressing Ra's who tells his daughter Talia that She can learn a lot from Sara. Rip and the rest of the team arrive in 1960 and get Ray and Kendra after tracing Ray's Time Beacon which they thought to be broken. They travel to Nanda Parbat to rescue Sara, but she has fully committed to Ra's al Ghul's mission and turns the team over to him as trespassers to be executed. Rip invokes the trial-by-combat ritual to save the team, with Kendra and Sara named as the champions to fight. Elsewhere, Chronos reveals himself to Snart as Mick Rory, having been found by the Time Masters and trained to be their bounty hunter. Kendra is able to get through to Sara just as Chronos arrives. Ra's frees the team, who successfully stop Chronos. Before they can kill him, Snart appears having escaped his captivity by freezing his hand, then breaking it off and the team discovers his Chronos real identity. Ra's releases Sara who tells him about the daughter he will have one day,Nyssa, and to tell her to stay away from Lian Yu. Imprisoning him on the Waverider, the team decides to try to reform Mick. Rip uses a machine to regenerate Snarts missing hand. With the team back together, they make a course for 2147 Kasnia Conglomerate hoping to take down Vandal once and for all.
Lasers, assassins, concussive fire blast, lots of explosions is what we got in this episode. It was a nice way to bring the show back after being gone for over a month.
Chronos/Mick Rory: The Time Masters found Snart's best friend and "turned him into a chew toy". At least this version of Mick has a greater sense of purpose, other than just wanting to watch the world burn. He says he has spent lifetimes studying and training at the Vanishing Point. Then was turned into their own personal bounty hunter.
Ra's Al Ghul: Same old Ra's. Literally. We see him back in the 50s, doing his thing and training the league. He took Sara in or the second time, or in his case the first time. He's not as crazy as he was in Arrow, but then again he's got 50 more years to succumb to the effects of the pit.
Talia Al Ghul: Our first and probably last look at Talia. She didn't say anything, but there was something a bit unsettling about her. Hopefully we get to see her a little more grown up in some other time period the Legends travel to.
Legends- It seems like they are torn apart every other episode. They made their way back to one another and are back on the mission to stop Vandal. Aside from that, they realize that if the Time Masters could train Rory to be the way he is, then they could try to reform him themselves. While Kendra and Snart expressed their oppositions of the idea, the rest of the team thought that there must be some good in him. It will definitely be interesting to see if they can achieve this, but as Rip says,"Miracles abound this old Time Ship." Or something like that.
Ray, Kendra and Sara- They were trapped in 1958 and after a few months of playing house, Sara decided to leave them to search for a place where she belonged. While Ray tried to not give up hope that the team would return for them, Sara argued that they were dead and not coming back. It's amazing how much positivity the guy had for everyone. At least he and Kendra got to live like a married couple for a few years and actually got to establish a life there. All to be picked up by Rip two years later. It was a little weird for them to readjust themselves, but they are back.
Ray and Kendra- They had some differing views of whether or not leaving their lives in 1958 was a good thing. Ray really cherished that time they had together, while Kendra though that their rightful place was to be on the team. This put a little strain on their relationship, but in the end they know they are in love and they can make it through anything. :Looks like Ray is getting ready to pop the question some time soon. This would be very awkward once a certain wing demigod comes out of the woodwork.
Ray and Stein- Nerds unite. They've probably been gone for only a few moments in time limbo, but for Ray, Sara and Kendra it was years. These two's face's lit up when they saw each other. Stein even played marriage counselor to both him and Kendra when the two were having a moment at Nanda Parbat waiting to be executed.
Rip and Ray- There was a little bit of tension between the two after he came back to pick up the rest of the team. Ray saw it as him interrupting a life that he and Kendra had established while Rip didn't want the timeline to be altered even more than it already was.
Rip, Stein and Jax- These three went on the roller coaster ride of their lives. Once they came out of it, Stein was speaking two hundred different languages, Jax was deaf and Rip once again had to fix the mess they were in. It always a fun time with these three and super hilarious.
Snart and Rory- This was the most intense one on one on the show, second to the woods scene between them. Looks like our theory came true and Rory was found by the Time Masters. What we didn't know was that he was the galactic bounty hunter Chronos who has been chasing the team from the start. We should have seen it coming though. It made for a pretty epic reveal. To see Rory as a more sophisticated, but psychotic antihero. He tells Snart that the Time Masters gave him a sense of purpose. Snart saved him once again though before the team could take off his head.
Sara and Ra's Al Ghul- We thought for sure that he would try to kill her, but I guess the crazy from the pit hasn't hit him yet. He was impressed with her once she joined the league and watched as she moved up quickly in the ranks. Even telling his daughter Talia that she should look up to her. After realizing how conflicted she was, he let her go. It was nice of Sara to tell him about Nyssa, but she also kind of left of the part where he would get triple teamed by Team Arrow. Oh well.
Sara and Kendra- These two are actually the loose cannons on the team when it comes down to fighting. Kendra decided to take up the challenge when Rip nominated her to fight. She was able to bring Sara back by reminding her that she wasn't a killer, but the White Canary. She should have reminded her of the good times they had living in Hub City, playing board games.
Hub City- The home of the DC Comics character The Question. It would be awesome to see him on any of these shows.
Netflix- We would be missing it too if we were stuck there, you're not alone Sara.
Bill Gates- One of Ray's students was Bill Gate's father
What's To Come/Theories:
Vandal is looking like the Hitler of 2147, raising an army in next episode titled 'Progeny". Every show's got to have a title like that at some point. The team looks to take out Vandal there or die trying. Then their mission changes when they see a boy who Rip says will become one of the greatest dictators in history. He is based off the comic book character Per Degaton.Per Degaton in the comics possesses a limited "time vision," allowing him to know what will happen in the near future. He is out of phase with normal time, which renders him intangible. Hourman's tachyon-filled hourglass has been shown to blur his time vision and allow anyone possessing it to hit Degaton. He is also aware of changes to the timestream and has made mention of remembering events from before Crisis on Infinite Earths. Of course he is still a child here and the Legends can change his future. It sounds like the team is pretty divided on how they want to handle the situation. Some view it as killing a child, while others think it will save a lot of lives in the end. Hopefully the team is able to save the kid and not have to kill him. It also looks like Rory will be joining them in the fight. They did say that they were going to work on reforming him. #ReformRory . It seems like there is some hope for him.
The reveal of Rory being Chronos had us surprised to the max. Everything started to make a little more since and got even more interesting. This episode had a lot of gratifying action sequences that we've been missing. We also got to see a familiar face and some new ones.. The team were essentially trapped in different timelines. That's the beauty of the show, it has so much to play with. This episode gets 9.6 Waveriders out of 10! What did you think about the episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
