The casting process for the eighth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise is well underway, and the Universal title has just added massive star power to its ranks.

According to Deadline, Charlize Theron will be trading in Imperator Furiosa's war rig for a different mode of transportation as the latest casting addition for Fast 8.

We don't know much about her character as of yet, but we do know that she is rumored to play a new villain and that Universal has had her in mind for the role since before the script was even completed.

Also cast in Fast 8 this week was Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju in a vague henchman role. Sounds like the studio is keeping these newer characters tightly under wraps while it still can.

The film also brings back franchise veterans Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Statham. At the helm of the film is Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray.

Filming for 'Fast 8' will begin this summer and will be released on April 14, 2017.
