I have yet to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood, but I know that if I go, I might never want to leave. But can you blame me?
Until I finally live out my dream, I will continue to painstakingly map out my trip while simultaneously living vicariously through others who have the fortune of visiting The Wizarding World. Here is what I've learned so far:
1. All Aboard The Hogwarts Express
The luggage racks and fabric seating in the Hogwarts Express train car photo booth were used in the actual film franchise.
2. Aren't You Glad You Shopped At Gladrags?
The shopfront has a replica of Hermione's Yule Ball dress, and you can find the actual one that Cho Chang (Katie Leung) wore from the film in a glass cabinet.
3. You Won't Be In The Bathroom Alone
You can most definitely hear Moaning Myrtle in both the men's and women's bathrooms.
4. It's Owl O'Clock
Every hour, an owl pops out of the clock tower as the bells chime.
5. You've Got Mail
There is an Owl Post located adjacent to the Owlery. It is actually a fully functioning post office where visitors are able to mail postcards and letters with a "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" stamp, postmarked Hogsmeade.
6. Dervish And Banges Is Banging!
You can find the Nimbus 2000, Nimbus 2001 and the Firebolt floating near the ceiling.
7. A Picture's Worth A Thousand Movements
In the Gryffindor common room at Hogwarts, the portraits actually move. They also features new J.K. Rowling-created characters.
8. Severus Snape's Office
If you wander around the one-eyed witch while at Hogwarts, you will be able to get a peek at Snape's Office.
I have half a mind to hop in my car and just drive up to Universal right now. I'm not too old to pretend I'm a Hogwarts student in need of new robes, wand and perhaps a pet owl, right?
