So. Star Wars: Rogue One.

Who would have thought that a movie combining some of the most critically acclaimed young actors of the past few years with some of the greatest on-screen martial artists of their generation would look so fundamentally awesome? What's that? Pretty much everyone reading this? Ah. Well then, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you've seen the trailer (and if you haven't then feel free to stop reading this right now and watch it just below), and are currently in a state of peculiarly heightened over-excitement — y'know, the kind only NEW STAR WARS MOVIES can really generate.

After all, not only does that there trailer feature AT-ATs blowing stuff up — traditionally one of the greatest things that can ever be committed to film — but it also contains more original trilogy-referencing awesomeness than you could shake a Bantha tusk at. Arguably the highlight of that nostalgia-fueling magnificence?

Mon Mothma Is Back, And She's Looking More Mon Mothma-y Than Ever

While the original Mon Mothma, Caroline Blakiston, is now 83, and thus a little too old to play the Rebel leader in a prequel, it seems that Star Wars: Rogue One has still managed to find a way to go old school with its Mon Mothma-related casting.

Our new Mon Mothma is the same Mon Mothma we (kind of) saw in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Genevieve O'Reilly.

Of course, O'Reilly's scenes in Sith were largely left on the cuttingroom floor, but it seems that we're now finally going to get the chance to see her — and Mon Mothma — return to the Star Wars universe, in exactly the sort of key role the character has always been felt by fans to deserve.

What's more...

O'Reilly's Mon Mothma Sure Is Faithful To The Original

Now, sure, she and Blakiston aren't quite identical twins, but considering the fact that more than 30 years have gone by since Return of the Jedi was filmed, it's pretty impressive that the folks at Lucasfilm have been able to find as suitable a replacement as O'Reilly looks set to be.

Also, most importantly?

MON MOTHMA IS GOING TO BE IN A NEW STAR WARS MOVIE THAT WE GET TO WATCH IN EIGHT MONTHS' TIME.

Frenzied squee-ing may not continue.

What do you think, though?

Do you think Genevieve O'Reilly is going to make a good Mon Mothma?
