In case you were wondering, Scarlett Johansson hasn't always been one of the most in-demand ladies on the planet. As revealed by her most recent interview for Cosmopolitan's May issue, there was a time when she felt so rejected and unwanted that she was plunged into a devastating depression.
Apparently, many years ago, she was in a relationship that led to her full-on hitting "rock bottom," all because the person she was with was "so attractively unavailable." She said:
"Long, long ago, I had someone in my life who was forever unavailable… but, like, so attractively unavailable. You have to get to your breaking point."
The Jungle Book actress candidly spoke of the effect such a destructive relationship had on her psyche, further admitting:
"Rock bottom is the moment when you’re like, ‘I’ve lost myself. Why am I standing outside this bar at 1:30 in the morning texting while my friends are inside? Or taking a taxi to see him at some ungodly hour."
Oh babes, we've all been there — chasing after a romantic ideal that always remains out of reach! Speaking of her personal moment of realization, she then continued:
"This isn’t me.' That is the moment you’ve gotta cut it off. Otherwise, it will keep coming back, suck your blood."
Scarlett didn't actually reveal the guy who broke her heart — we can only wonder, could it have been Josh Hartnett who she dated from 2005 to 2007, or was it a reference to her marriage to Ryan Reynolds, or perhaps her brief relationship with Sean Penn?
One thing's for sure though, her relationship woes don't have anything to do with her current husband, French journalist Romain Dauriac, with whom she shares a beautiful 19-month-old baby girl, Rose Dorothy.
