At first, I was unsure of what Ant-Man would be like. But honestly, I think it's the best of Marvel's Phase Two. It's the most hilarious of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!! Ant-Man is a little more laid back than the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And finally, it shows that the absolute least likely can be a hero. Let me explain.
The most obvious reason I love Ant-Man is that it's extremely funny! I don't remember laughing this hard watching a superhero movie. It's not really that surprising because Marvel is known to be funnier and more lighthearted than DC. (Not that I didn't like Man of Steel or Batman V. Superman.) I really loved the part when Scott was training in the Ant-Man suit underground, and got scared of all of the ants! Another part I loved was when Ant-Man comedically fought the Falcon. It was both action packed and downright hilarious when the Falcon didn't take Scott's superhero name seriously. The Falcon was tough, but good old Ant-Man was more strategic. But my most favorite comedic part of Ant-Man was when Scott awkwardly ruined the moment when Hank Pym was making up with his daughter. Marvel is absolutely clever in casting their heroes. And they really hit home by casting Paul Rudd as Scott Lang. And it turns out Paul Rudd actually co-wrote Ant-Man!! So, that really secures this movie comedically. It's just my personal opinion that Ant-Man is the funniest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Compared to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man is a little more laid back. And that's a good thing. Now, don't get me wrong here. I'm really on board with the Infinity Stones and the upcoming battle between The Avengers and Thanos. It's just that sometimes that can be a little more heavy and confusing to some comic book fans. Ant-Man is just a good origin story of a new superhero being added to the cinematic dynasty that is Marvel. (Okay technically, Scott Lang is the second Ant-Man.) He will return to fight along side Captain America in Captain America: Civil War. I'm so excited, and happy to see him team up with my favorite superhero. You can see him below in the photo on team Captain America. And he has an upgraded suit as well! It looks so cool!
I have one final reason why I think Ant-Man is the best of Marvel's Phase Two. The movie shows that the absolute least likely person can be a hero. Scott Lang is a thief. A thief who loves his daughter, but isn't able to see her due to him being in jail. Once he meets the first Ant-Man, Doctor Hank Pym, Scott is offered a second chance for his life. Hank recruits Scott to use his heist skills to steal an invention to prevent chaos. Scott along with his thieving buddies sneak into a laboratory to save the world. And the result? An epic, original, and entertaining fight between Ant-Man and the villain, Yellow Jacket. They both shrink down and collide with each other in Scott's daughter's bedroom. It's so awesome!!! Scott Lang starts out as a common thief, and ends up becoming hero. Eventually, being added into the Avengers. So all in all, Ant-Man shows us that the least likely person can be a hero.
I love Ant-Man! I think it's the greatest part of the second phase of Marvel's Cinematic Universe. It's the funniest out of it. It's more laid back than the main surmise of the Marvel Universe. And it shows that anyone can be a hero.
