With the introduction of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and ultimately the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has now been confirmed that characters from the MCU will be crossing over into Spidey's world.
The head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, told EW that "He is in the universe now, and the fun of that universe is that characters go back and forth." This only makes sense after the two sides, Sony and Marvel Studios came to terms to include Spider-Man into the MCU. The real question now is who will appear in his solo film? Feige could not say for sure, but considering that Spider-Man is on Iron Man's side could hint that we might see any of Team Iron Man's players in his solo film.
Bringing Spider-Man into the MCU could prove to be beneficial for both studios. The high demand for Spider-Man to be among the MCU characters would offer a much needed boost for Sony's solo Spider-Man films as last year's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 disappointed. This also causes us to wonder if Fox Studios will eventually follow suit. Uniting all over Marvel's characters into one universe would allow you to see such things as Deadpool pranking Tony Stark, or even Wolverine giving Thor a haircut. While this is all wishful thinking for now, Captain America: Civil War will be the meter to judge just how effective an entire shared universe can be.
Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6, 2016 directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The Spider-Man solo film is slated for release in July 28, 2017 directed by Jon Watts.
